MVB 1012 - Pre-Principal: French Horn 2 credits Prerequisites: Permission of the instructor The course is designed for students who need to improve their proficiency in technique, music reading, and /or performance experience before enrolling in freshman-level applied music instruction courses. This course involves private instruction, representative techniques, and literature on the French horn and is designed to equip the student for continued study leading to progressively greater proficiency (as measured by an end-of-the-semester jury examination). Sixty minutes of private instruction per week equals two credit hours. It is recommended that music majors take weekly lessons in their principal instruments. Seats in applied music classes are limited. Permission of the Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is required.
- Full-time music majors have first priority.
- Full-time (12 hours) degree-seeking students have second priority.
- Part-time students who are likely to become full-time have third priority.
- Community members have fourth option on remaining seats, exclusive of those who have repeated a course more than once.
