DEH 2702 - Community Dental Health - AS 2 credits Prerequisites: DEH 2804 with a grade of “C” or higher Corequisites: DEH 2806 , DEH 2702L This course is an introduction to the concepts and core principles of community oral health. Orientation to the role of the dental hygienist as educator, resource person and consumer advocate in the field of dental public health are addressed as well as an introduction to epidemiology and research principles. In addition, theories and their application at the federal, state and local levels will be explored. The student will develop the skills necessary to assess various target populations and select educational strategies that will effectively provide culturally appropriate oral health education programs.
