Purpose
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Human Services career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of aspects of the Human Services career cluster.
This program is designed to prepare students for employment as addiction specialists, (Social and Human Service Assistants) and (Community Health Workers), or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations.
Course Prerequisites
This certificate requires HUS 1001 Introduction to Human Services or SOW 2031 Introduction to Social Work to be taken before HUS 2302 Techniques of Interviewing and HUS 2200 Dynamics of Groups and Group Counseling.
Graduation Requirements
Students must fulfill all requirements of their program to be eligible for graduation. All courses within the Certificate Program Requirements category must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.
