Purpose

The Associate in Science (AS) in Business Entrepreneurship follows a rigorous epistemological framework, grounded in scientific, historical, and experiential learning. Students gain entrepreneurial knowledge through a comprehensive process that combines understanding fundamental principles, learning from past entrepreneurial successes and failures, and applying this knowledge in real-world scenarios. By integrating these approaches, the program ensures that students acquire a deep, practical understanding of entrepreneurship, preparing them to face the challenges of launching and sustaining their own ventures.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Cultivate an Entrepreneurial Mindset through critical thinking and problem solving enhancing the ideation activities around solutions to potential problems.
  • Identify solution sets and develop strategies to measure and meet the needs of customers.
  • Implement market research centered around creating an understanding of the data available to make choices on product/service and industry potentials.
  • Apply Design Thinking and Scientific Methods to develop indicators and measures of the created idea and the perceived success of launching it.
  • Develop a compelling Value Proposition that identifies differentiations that are critical components of success in the marketplace.
  • Integrate practices for Lean Startup and Agile Methodologies in the early and continuous development of the entrepreneurial evolution.
  • Devise pitch practice processes to ensure an understanding of the need articulating the strategies, tactics, and operations that go into a new entrepreneurial venture.
  • Create a test environment where ideas can be vetted within learning modules.
  • Apply Marketing, Branding, and Campaign strategies to promote the growth of the entrepreneurial venture.
  • Predict product/service-market fit through metrics and measures devised through operational analytics.
  • Design a strategic entrepreneurial roadmap that aligns business goals with long-term growth.
  • Predict user experience through the use of information systems and customer relationship management software applications.
  • Develop entrepreneurs’ managerial skills that follow industry best practices.
  • Understand business structures and risk indicators for planning and development purposes.
  • Cultivate student exploration of Finance and Accounting principles and practices for managing an entrepreneurial enterprise through all stages.
  • Implement ethical standards and practices in all aspects generated through the enterprise planning process.
  • Devise long term strategies for strong business continuity in every phase of the business venture development.
  • Create a comprehensive business plan of the entrepreneurial venture that integrates all aspects of the enterprise and strategy.
  • Understand the entrepreneurial ecosystem so that productive partnerships and alliances can be developed.

Course Prerequisites

Graduation Requirements

Students must fulfill all requirements of their program to be eligible for graduation. All courses within the Program Requirements category must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.

General Education Requirements: 18 Credit Hours


Total Degree Requirements: 60 Credit Hours
