Inclusion Specialization Certificate, CCC

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

This certificate is made up of courses that support early childhood educators in including all children. Strategies for supporting children who have experienced trauma are among the learning outcomes for these classes. Students are prepared for immediate employment educating children in a variety of inclusive settings. We support those currently employed in early care and education in enhancing their skills and achieving their educational goals while staying debt free. This is accomplished through close collaboration with the T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education and Compensation Helps) scholarship program, as well as scholarships available through FSW (The Schulze Family Foundation). The study of research and theory is blended with many opportunities for hands-on experiences, as well as practical experience in the field. This certificate does not include general education courses.

Program Highlights:

This certificate equips students to become inclusive educators. An emphasis on relationships between children, families, and communities in our diverse world is central to the framework of the courses and experiences in completing this certificate. Our faculty all have extensive experience and education in Inclusive Early Childhood Education to teach in a way that complements students’ field experiences. Students are supported in completing their courses on a full-time or part-time basis. CHD 1332 Creative Experiences for the Young Child is offered in a format blending face to face and online coursework, in addition to being offered online. EDF 2085 Introduction to Diversity for Educators is offered in the traditional, blended and online formats every semester. Other courses are available online. Professionalism and advocacy are important elements of development for the educators we graduate.
