NUR 4636 - Community Health Nursing Theory 3 credits Prerequisites: Acceptance into the RN/BSN Program; current, valid, unencumbered RN license; completion of all of the RN/BSN Program courses (except NUR 4636L and NUR 4827 /NUR 4827L ). This course is restricted to students who are accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program. In order to enroll in the 3000 and 4000 level NUR courses, students must complete ENC 1101 , ENC 1102 , and STA 2023 with grades of “C” or higher. Students also must complete all science prerequisites as noted on the program page. Corequisites: NUR 4636L This course focuses on the promotion of health and the holistic nursing role in the community. The student is introduced to community nursing practice, concepts of community assessment, health promotion, health maintenance, disease prevention, and health education. The nursing care of clients across the lifespan is explored with attention given to the community as client. This course is available to students as an online course and a face-to-face format that is web-enhanced, requiring students to complete classroom and specific web-based assignments and activities.
