WOH 1030 - History of World Civilization 1815 to Present- (I) 3 credit(s) Prerequisite(s): Testing into ENC 1101; or completion of ENC 0025 and REA 0017 with a “C” or higher (and/or completion of former course numbers ENC 9020 or ENC 9021 with a “C” or higher and former course number REA 9003 with a “C” or higher); or EAP 1620 and EAP 1640 with a “C” or higher; or an eligible testing/course completion combination. Required: Writing intensive–a minimum of 4,000 words of instructor-evaluated writing per student A survey including modern revolutions; the Industrial Revolution; Imperialism; the Indian, Far Eastern, and African backgrounds and political developments; the rise of Latin America; two World Wars and their results; modern nationalism and the decline of colonialism. The political, economic, social, and intellectual views of the world will be emphasized. This course is termed a writing intensive course and requires a minimum of 4,000 words of instructor-evaluated writing per student, including a minimum of three graded assignments over the duration of the course. If completed with a grade of “C” or better, this course serves to complete part of the writing intensive course requirements.
