CRW 2300 - Introduction to Poetry Writing

3 credits
This course will serve as an introduction to writing and workshopping original poetry as well as crafting critical responses to aesthetically informative examples of poetry writing. The class will study poetry as a genre and explore a variety of poetic schools, forms, and techniques. The term project will consist of a portfolio of poems, the parameters of which will be determined by the instructor. This course has a substantial writing requirement, but writers of all levels and experience are welcome.

This writing-intensive course requires a minimum of 4,000 words across multiple college-level, faculty-evaluated written assignments.  If completed with a “C” or better, this course will be counted toward partial fulfillment of the Writing Intensive course requirements.
