MGF 1131 - Mathematics in Context 3 credits Prerequisites: MAT 0018 with a “C” or better, or MAT 0057 with a “C” or better, or MAT 1100 with a “C” or better, or MAT 1033 (or higher) with a “C” or better, or demonstration of readiness for college-level computation. This course is designed to provide students with opportunities to experience the practicality of mathematics in a global society. Throughout the course, students will engage in the applications of tools and techniques of mathematics in a variety of contextual situations from everyday life. The course is intended for a wide range of disciplines and programs, but is primarily focused on programs in the non-STEM pathways. In accordance with Rule 6A-10.030, this course meets the requirement for general education computational coursework. However, this course DOES NOT meet the general education core mathematics requirement of Rule 6A-14.0303. Credit is not given for both MGF 1131 and MGF 1107.
