ISM 3113 - Systems Analysis and Design 3 credits Prerequisites: Prior to enrolling in any upper level course (course number beginning with a 3 or 4), students must complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or better: ENC 1101 - Composition I , ENC 1102 - Composition II , and three semester hours of college level mathematics; or permission from the appropriate academic Dean This course introduces the analysis, design, implementation and operation of information systems. The course contrasts different approaches to analyzing information systems’ needs and the steps required to design and implement the system. User interface design, databases, reporting and interaction with internal, external and legacy systems are analyzed. Topics on cost/benefit analysis, outsourcing, security, training, case tools and life cycle of new or replacement systems are covered.
