General Information
Graduation at Florida SouthWestern State College is an automatic process. Once a student has met all the necessary requirements for their declared degree program, the student’s degree will automatically be awarded and the student’s Official Transcript will be updated. The student will be notified of their graduated status through the student’s College email account and the diploma will be mailed to the address on file.
Students may update their Automatic Graduation Status by contacting the Office of the Registrar on or before the date published on the academic calendar. If a student chooses to “opt out” of the Automatic Graduation process, the student is indicating they do not want their certificate or degree to be awarded and assigned to the academic record. Once a student decides they do want the degree awarded, the student will need to contact the Office of the Registrar to “opt back in” and receive the degree.
Note: If a student opts out of Automatic Graduation and has met all degree requirements, the ability to receive financial aid may be impacted should the student choose to continue taking classes. Please be sure to discuss an “opt-out” decision with your financial aid counselor before contacting the Office of the Registrar.
