ENT 1021 - Innovation in Business and Entrepreneurship 3 credits Innovation in Business and Entrepreneurship at Florida Southwestern State College (FSW) is a focused course designed to immerse students in the essential aspects of entrepreneurship and innovation. Through engaging speakers, comprehensive coursework, and insightful visits to businesses and places of interest in the Southwest Florida (SWFL) region, students will gain firsthand experience and insights into the entrepreneurial landscape. This course encourages students to explore their own interests and ideas, identify problems, and develop feasible and viable entrepreneurial projects based on these interests.
Students will delve into key topics such as market research, opportunity exploration, and identifying problems or needs using design thinking basics. They will learn to identify potential customers, assess their needs, and develop new product or service ideas. The course also covers value proposition development and the creation of a basic business model canvas, including the validation of assumptions.
Additionally, students will enhance their pitching and presentation skills, preparing them to effectively communicate their ideas and solutions. By the end of the course, students will have developed the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to become successful change-makers and entrepreneurs. They will be well-prepared to pitch their projects confidently and participate in the Feasibility and Viability Pitch Event. This course aims to equip students with the tools to tackle the challenges of entrepreneurship and drive meaningful innovation in today’s ever-evolving business landscape.
