                  EDE 3315 - Math in the Elementary Classroom 3 credits Prerequisites: Admission into the Bachelor of Science in Education Program or special permission from the Dean of the School of Education; and prior to enrolling in any upper level course (course number beginning with a 3 or 4), students must complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or better:  ENC 1101 - Composition I ,  ENC 1102 - Composition II , and three semester hours of college level mathematics; or permission from the appropriate academic Dean The primary purpose of this course is to produce well-trained practitioners who are skilled in the philosophy, methods, content, teaching and assessing elementary mathematics.  This course introduces K-6 Florida math standards as an overview to understanding the math content needed to effectively teach mathematics.  The course stresses math diagnostics as a way to understand student thinking and error patterns. This course will provide teacher candidates with
