This course is designed to address knowledge and skills pertaining to chemistry that will be useful to the Hazardous Materials Technician. The course features forms of matter, energy, common substances, chemical formulas/structure and bonding of atoms, molecules, isotopes, chemical reactions, and physical effects of chemical exposure to victims. Particular emphasis is placed on how this knowledge can be effectively used at a Hazardous Materials incident. This course meets part of the requirements for Fire Investigator I, Fire Officer II, and Fire Inspector II Certification.
