Prerequisite(s): Admission into the Bachelor of Science program in Education or special permission from the Associate Dean of Baccalaureate Programs
Required: 30 hours of practicum
Through this course the teacher candidate will examine the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching mathematics and science to the elementary student. Teacher candidates will become familiar with the national curriculum standards and the Florida Sunshine Standards for K-6 Mathematics and Science instruction. They will develop an understanding of instructional strategies, activities and materials that will enhance student learning in Math and Science. Emphasis will also be placed on integrating the subject areas across the curriculum. A practicum experience of 30 hours is required with this course.
